The fourth step in interpreting a certain text in the Bible is having the ability to interpret special literary methods such as similes, metaphors, proverbs, parables, and allegories. Interpreting these special literary methods requires us to run the previous steps on passages that contain this method. For metaphors, similes, and proverbs we must look for a single point of comparison. For parables, we must determine the central teaching and the significant details that are related to it. For allegories, we must determine the multiple points of comparison by the author. When we think we have found the meaning of the special passage, we must make sure it is in harmony with the context of the book and the chapter.
